How Would You Handle This Parking Ticket In The Mail?

Don't even bother calling me a "stiff" or anything else. Never said I wasn't going to pay it (eventually)

I am struggling like many other people are. Took a part time job delivering pizzas in the city (Philly) Saturday and Sunday nights. Because they (the pizza place) are/is struggling the hours aren't very good (I get two 4-hour shifts and don't even make $40 most nights)

But every little bit helps and $70 a weekend is $70 more than what I had going into the weekend.

I get this parking ticket in the mail. Says I parked in a handicapped spot and the fine is $300.

Now I really wouldn't ever park in a handicapped spot ever. At least not knowingly. In fact I really question that in terms of factuality.

I know that this "ticket" was me delivering somebody's pizza and I was in and out quick whichever way you slice it.

I keep my flashers on and the pizza place's menu in my window (which seems to be what everyone does so that nothing like this happens)

The part that irks me the most (other than the ridiculous amount of the fine) is the ticket claims "Driver drove away - refused the ticket" which is just garbage. Nothing like that ever happened.

The reason (I would guess) that the ticket shows up in the mail is because I was in-and-out before the officer could actually even write the thing.

None of this makes it "right" (I get it) and I feel that taking it to court will just result in "He said you were there so tough shit" - I don't expect any common sense applied when there is a city going broke and there is $300 on the line.

The other end of this (besides me being in and out quick and the officer not even having enough time to write a ticket and then saying "I refused it") is that I did have my flashers on and a pizza menu in the window - all of this alot of "ooops" from the officer to swallow $300.

How could a cop possibly have the time to pull over and write you a ticket in the short time it takes you to deliver a pizza?

PIZZA MENU IN THE WINDOW!!!!!!

I am going to go out on a limb and state that DOES NOT make it seem like you are delivering pizza to most people. You need a door sign or a roof sign.

And even parking in the handicap zone for 1 minute is against the law. My daughter was in a wheel chair for 4 months and WE DIDNT HAVE a handicap placard, so I couldnt even park in those zones and she used a wheelchair

It's just what people do here locally. I get all that.

I just think the cop was going out of his way to be a prick. He "knew" - it wasn't some accident on his/her part. Nor is the "driver refused ticket drove away" line written on the thing. Just someone being a prick for the "fun" of being a prick.

Who doesn't watch 'parking wars' I bet I know the chick that gave you the ticket... What car is yours, so I can laugh when she pops out behind the bush and writes it? Actually don't pay it, I want to see it when they boot it and tow you.

PO is right , you don't use a 'topper'?

Nah it's a small local (non-corporate) place. Tons of them in the area. Everyone does the same thing (a menu in the window type thing)

And I'll pay it eventually - just needed to vent - tough when you feel like the traffic court system is just going to waste your time, that's all. Just trying to make a living by taking the second job and didn't need this nonsense.

I drove for Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, and Gio's back in the day.
It's cool you get 7 an hour plus tips, 4 deliverys * 2 bucks a delivery = 15/hour.
But my car got tore up!
Probably not worth it if you want to keep your car running (or if your a mechanic, but money + free pizza!
I never got a ticket, but I had a magnetic fat sign on top of my honda.
That cop sounds gay.

If you don't pay it goes on your licence, then you might get a failure to appear, if you don't take care of it.

I don't know if you;ll lose your license though. Cuz then, you should try to pay..

If youre only working pt, go fight it!

Go to traffic court and say bitch I dodn't do shit, etc.

Why's it retarded though? You can make easy bank and get free fucking pizza! When you are 21 that's like ideal. Living in Costa Rica is retarded.
